For example, if you set the voltage at 19V, then maximum current output of this AC power adapter will be 4.3A. The current output of a AC adapter varies: it depends how much the device needs. For example, if a AC power adapter maximum current output is 4A, it does not mean the AC adapter current output is 4A. It means the power adapter current output maximum capacity is 4A, actual output current can be anything between 0~4A.
How it works :
1. Set DC Output Voltage
This Universal AC to DC Power Adapter has a switch on the front that lets you select the voltage you need within a range of 12V ~ 24 volts. Please refer to the electronic item you are powering to determine voltage. It should be marked on the DC input jack. You may also refer to the manual to determine the proper voltage setting. 2. Select right tip: Included with your adapter are 5-plug tips that work with most products. With the plug tip not connected to the adapter cord, locate the correct tip by fitting the tip into the DC Jack. The tip should fit snugly in the DC jack  3. Set Polarity & Plug the tip After you have selected the proper plug tip, you need to connect the plug tip to the adapter cord to match the correct polarity setting. It is CRITICAL that you determine and set the correct polarity needed for your product before using the adapter. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN SEVERE DAMAGE TO YOUR PRODUCT! To determine the correct polarity for your product, inspect the DC adapter jack or the label of your product thoroughly for information about the products polarity. There will be a symbol with a plus sign on one side and a minus sign on the other with a circle between them. The circle will have an opening so that it looks like a "C". If the opening of the circle is on the side with the plus sign the polarity is positive. If the opening is on the side with minus sign the polarity is negative. If you cannot find a polarity sign on your product you need to call the product's manufacturer to find out what the polarity is. There is a small plus (+) and minus (-)sign on the plastic part of the plug tip above the two pins where you plug the tip into the cord. On the adapter's cord where you connect the plug tip - you should notice the word "tip". If your polarity setting is POSITIVE, you need to set the plug tip to "tip positive" by connecting the "plus sign" and the word "tip" on the adapter cord so they line up on the same side. Most laptops polarity setting is Positive like bellow picture: If your polarity setting is NEGATIVE, you need tip to set the plug tip to "tip-negative" by connecting the "minus sign" and the word "tip" on the adapter cord so they line up on the same side. After select right tip and decide the polarity, you can just plug the tip into the adapter cord. Just that simple, now you are ready to use it !
