Y3 3 Ft Heavy-Duty 16AWG DC Power Extension Cable –
5.5 x 2.5mm Male to Female
The BiXPower Y3 DC power extension cable provides
an additional 3 feet of cable length for DC power
connections using standard 5.5 x 2.5mm barrel connectors.
One end has a 5.5 x 2.5mm male plug and the other end has a
5.5 x 2.5mm female jack.
Built with UL2464 16AWG wire, the Y3 provides a
heavier-duty connection than many thin DC extension cables and is
suitable for compatible batteries, power adapters, DC converters,
electronic equipment, and other low-voltage DC power applications.

How the Y3 Extension Cable Connects
Connect the 5.5 x 2.5mm female jack on the Y3 cable
to the existing 5.5 x 2.5mm male plug from your compatible power
adapter, battery, converter, or DC power cable.
The 5.5 x 2.5mm male connector on the opposite end
then provides the extended power connection to your compatible device.

Easy 3-Foot Extension:
The Y3 extends an existing 5.5 x 2.5mm DC barrel connection without
changing the connector size. It is useful when the original power cable
does not comfortably reach the device.
Heavy-Duty 16AWG Construction
The Y3 uses UL2464 16AWG conductors. The heavier wire
helps reduce cable resistance compared with many thinner-gauge DC
extension cables, especially when carrying higher DC current.
However, the safe current capacity of a complete cable is determined
not only by the wire gauge, but also by the
barrel connectors and connection quality.
Important Current Limitation
Do not determine the cable's safe operating current from the
16AWG wire rating alone.
Although 16AWG wire itself can carry relatively high current, the
5.5 x 2.5mm barrel connectors are the limiting components
in this cable.
For this Y3 cable, the 5.5 x 2.5mm connector is intended for approximately
6–8A maximum, depending on operating conditions and
connection quality.
For continuous higher-current applications, use a properly rated
higher-current connector or a direct-wire connection instead of relying
on a 5.5 x 2.5mm barrel connector.
During higher-current operation, periodically check the connectors.
If a connector becomes excessively hot,
stop using the cable and use a more suitable
high-current connection.
Common Applications
- Extending compatible AC/DC power adapter cables
- Portable rechargeable battery output connections
- DC-to-DC power converter connections
- 12V and other compatible low-voltage DC equipment
- LED lighting and electronic equipment
- Portable electronics and test equipment
- DIY and OEM DC power applications
Check Connector Size Before Ordering
DC barrel connectors that look similar can have different inner
diameters. A 5.5 x 2.1mm connector and a
5.5 x 2.5mm connector may look almost identical but
are not necessarily interchangeable.
Please verify that your equipment uses a 5.5mm outer diameter x
2.5mm inner diameter DC barrel connection before ordering.
Important Electrical Compatibility Information
This product is an extension cable only. It does not
convert, regulate, increase, or decrease voltage.
The voltage and polarity supplied at the input are passed through to
the output. Always confirm that your power source provides the correct
voltage, polarity, and current required by the
connected device.
