How Does This DC-to-DC Battery Charger Work?
A regular laptop AC-to-DC power adapter typically provides
a constant output voltage, such as 12V, 19V, or 20V.
The connected device determines how much current it draws,
up to the adapter's rated maximum.
A lithium-ion battery charger has a different job.
It must control the charging current and charging voltage
to match the battery's requirements.
The BiXPower DCC-24V2A performs this conversion.
It accepts a compatible DC power source within its
9V–32V input range and provides a charging output
suitable for compatible 7-series lithium-ion batteries.
Controlled Current and Voltage Charging
During the main charging stage, the charger limits the
charging current to a maximum of 2A while its output
voltage adjusts to the battery's charging requirements.
As the battery approaches full charge, the charger
limits the output voltage to 29.4V and charging
current decreases.
This is commonly known as a constant-current /
constant-voltage (CC/CV) charging process.
The charger is designed to terminate its charging
output at the end of the charging process.
Important Difference:
A regular laptop power adapter is not automatically
a suitable lithium-ion battery charger.
This DC-to-DC charger provides controlled charging
voltage and current between a compatible DC supply
and a compatible lithium-ion battery.
Compatible Lithium-Ion Batteries
This DC charger is designed for compatible 24V / 25.2V
nominal, 7S lithium-ion battery packs that require
a maximum charging voltage of 29.4V.

- BiXPower BX2488
- BiXPower BX2487
- BiXPower BX2493
- BiXPower BX2494
- BiXPower BX2499
- Other compatible 7S lithium-ion batteries
requiring 29.4V charging
Before connecting any battery, verify its charging
voltage, connector dimensions, polarity, and allowable
charging current.
Battery Compatibility Notice:
This charger is intended for compatible 7S lithium-ion
batteries only. It is not a universal charger for
all batteries labeled 24V. Do not use it for
24V lead-acid batteries, LiFePO4 batteries, or
other battery chemistries unless the charging
requirements are specifically verified as compatible.
DC Input and Battery Output Connectors
The charger is equipped with a DC input connector
and a separate charging output connector.
- Input: 5.5 x 2.1mm female DC barrel connector
- Output: 5.5 x 2.5mm male DC barrel connector
Please verify the physical connector size and
polarity of your DC power source and battery
before use. Similar-looking barrel connectors
are not always interchangeable.
Use a Compatible Laptop AC Power Adapter
If you already have a compatible constant-voltage
DC power adapter, such as a laptop AC adapter,
you may be able to use it as the input power
source for this DC-to-DC charger.
The DC adapter supplies input power while the
DCC-24V2A regulates the charging voltage and
current delivered to the lithium-ion battery.
DC Power Adapter Requirements
- Output voltage must be within DC 9V–32V.
- Output connector and polarity must match
the charger input.
- The adapter must provide sufficient input
power for the desired charging rate.
- The adapter must be a properly regulated
DC power source.
At maximum charging output, the charger delivers
approximately 58.8W (29.4V x 2A).
Because DC-to-DC conversion is not 100% efficient,
the input power source must be capable of
supplying more than 58.8W for full-rate charging.
For example, a suitable 19V or 20V laptop adapter
rated at approximately 65W or higher may provide
adequate power, depending on actual charger efficiency
and operating conditions. A higher-rated adapter
does not force excess current into the charger.
Power Supply Notice:
Do not assume that every laptop adapter is compatible.
Check voltage, available power, connector size, and
polarity. A power source with insufficient capacity
may shut down, overheat, or fail to support full-rate
charging.
Optional Vehicle Charging – 12V Car or 24V Truck
With a compatible optional car cigarette lighter
power adapter, this DC-to-DC charger may be powered
from a suitable 12V vehicle accessory socket or
24V truck accessory socket.
This provides a convenient charging option while
traveling or working away from a standard AC outlet.

Optional vehicle DC power adapter cable.

Vehicle Power Requirements
- Vehicle socket voltage must remain within
the charger's DC 9V–32V input range.
- The vehicle accessory circuit must have
sufficient current capacity.
- Verify connector dimensions and polarity
before connecting.
- Use a suitable fused vehicle power connection.
- Avoid draining the vehicle's starting battery
while the engine is off.

specified as 5.5 x 2.1mm female, while some
vehicle adapter cables use 5.5 x 2.5mm male plugs.
Confirm the correct connector size before ordering
or connecting the optional adapter.
Portable DC Charging Applications
The charger's wide DC input range allows it to
work with different compatible DC power sources.
This can be useful for portable battery systems,
mobile equipment, field operations, and vehicle
power applications.
Always ensure that the input source can supply
adequate power and that the battery's charging
specifications match the charger output.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a regular laptop AC adapter to charge
a 24V lithium-ion battery?
A regular constant-voltage laptop adapter should
not be connected directly to a lithium-ion battery
unless the battery is specifically designed
to accept that type of input. The DCC-24V2A
converts a compatible DC adapter's output into
controlled charging voltage and current.
Can a 19V laptop adapter charge a 25.2V battery?
Yes, a compatible 19V DC power adapter may power
this DC-to-DC charger. The charger can increase
the input voltage as needed to provide up to
29.4V charging output. The adapter must supply
adequate input power.
Can this charger operate from a 12V car battery?
Yes, a suitable 12V vehicle power source falls
within the charger's 9V–32V input range.
Use the correct vehicle adapter, verify
polarity and connector compatibility, and
ensure the power circuit has sufficient capacity.
Can I use this charger with a 24V truck?
A compatible 24V vehicle DC supply may be used
provided its actual voltage remains within
9V–32V and the connections are suitable.
Vehicle electrical systems can experience
voltage transients, so a properly protected
power connection is recommended.
Will a higher-current DC power adapter
damage the charger?
Not simply because it has a higher current rating.
For example, a suitable 19V 5A adapter can
supply up to 5A, but the connected charger
determines the current it draws. The adapter
must still have the correct voltage, connector,
and polarity.
Can I use this charger for LiFePO4 batteries?
This model is designed for compatible 7S
lithium-ion batteries requiring 29.4V charging.
Do not assume that a LiFePO4 battery is
compatible simply because it is labeled 24V.
Different battery chemistries require
different charging voltage profiles.
How long will it take to charge a battery?
Charging time depends on battery capacity,
starting charge level, battery condition,
and available input power. For example,
a 10Ah battery may require more than five
hours when charging at a maximum of 2A,
because charging current typically decreases
near full charge.
Does the charger include a car cigarette
lighter adapter?
The car cigarette lighter adapter is an
optional accessory unless specifically
included in the selected product package.
Confirm connector compatibility before ordering.
