BiXPower USB-C PD to 24V DC Power Converter
Get stable, regulated 24V DC power from a compatible USB-C Power Delivery (PD) power bank, portable battery, or USB-C charger.
Most standard USB-C Power Delivery power sources do not provide a fixed 24V DC output. They commonly offer voltage profiles such as 5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, and 20V.
The BiXPower USBC-DC24V Power Converter Kit makes it possible to power compatible 24V DC equipment from a USB-C PD source by combining a special USB-C PD input cable with a compact, high-efficiency DC-to-DC voltage converter.
The included USB-C PD cable obtains 20V DC from a compatible USB-C PD source. The converter then transforms that power into a stable, regulated 24V DC output.
The converter hardware supports a wide 9V to 32V DC input range and is rated for up to 24V/5A (120W). When powered through USB-C PD, actual available output power is limited by the USB-C source, cable, and conversion efficiency.

How to Convert USB-C PD Power to 24V DC
A USB-C connector does not automatically provide 24V DC power. Standard USB-C PD fixed-voltage profiles generally stop at 20V, although newer USB-C PD specifications support additional voltage modes.
The BiXPower converter kit uses two steps to provide regulated 24V DC:
- USB-C PD negotiation: The included special USB-C cable requests 20V DC from a compatible USB-C PD power source.
- Voltage conversion: The DC-to-DC converter transforms the 20V input into a stable 24V DC output.
This provides a convenient way to operate compatible 24V equipment from modern USB-C PD batteries and power adapters without requiring a dedicated 24V battery.
Wide-Input 9V to 32V DC Power Converter
The heart of this kit is a compact, high-efficiency DC-to-DC voltage converter designed to provide a stable 24V DC output from a wide range of DC input voltages.
The converter accepts 9V to 32V DC input, making it suitable for use with compatible 12V and 24V batteries, DC power supplies, and other DC sources within the specified voltage range.
Because it can regulate voltage from sources below or above 24V, it is useful in applications where the input voltage may vary during battery discharge or normal operation.
The converter hardware is rated for a maximum output of 24V DC at 5A, or 120W, provided the input source and operating conditions can support that load.
DC Input and Output Connectors
The converter uses a 5.5 x 2.5mm female DC input connector with 16AWG input wires and a 5.5 x 2.5mm male DC output connector with 18AWG output wires.
The standard input connector allows the included USB-C PD cable to connect conveniently to the converter.
The converter can also be used with another suitable DC source within its specified input range, provided the connector, polarity, wiring, and power capacity are compatible.
For high-current applications, ensure that all connectors and wiring are appropriately rated for the required current.
Compact, Lightweight, and Energy Efficient
The converter is designed for portable and space-limited applications where compact size and efficient power conversion are important.
- Dimensions: 78 x 36 x 24mm (approximately 3.1 x 1.4 x 0.9 inches)
- Weight: Approximately 180g (6.35 oz)
- Conversion efficiency: Greater than 90%
- Regulated output: 24V DC
- Hardware output rating: Up to 120W
Why High Conversion Efficiency Matters
A DC-to-DC converter uses some electrical energy during voltage conversion. Higher efficiency reduces wasted energy, helps limit heat generation, and allows more of the available battery power to reach the connected equipment.
For example, at 90% efficiency, supplying 72W to a connected 24V device requires approximately 80W of input power.
Only about 8W is lost during conversion in this example. Actual efficiency depends on input voltage, output load, and operating conditions.
Special USB-C PD 20V Input Cable
The included USB-C PD input cable has a USB Type-C male connector on one end and a DC barrel connector on the other.
The cable contains the necessary USB-C PD negotiation circuitry to request a 20V output from a compatible USB-C Power Delivery source.
When the USB-C source accepts the 20V PD request, the cable delivers 20V DC to the converter input.
Important USB-C PD Compatibility Requirements
The USB-C power source must support USB Power Delivery and offer a 20V output profile.
A standard 5V USB-C port, or a USB-C charger without a compatible 20V PD profile, may not work with this converter kit.
The USB-C source must also provide enough power for the connected 24V equipment, including conversion losses.
Understanding the 120W Converter Rating
The DC converter hardware supports a maximum rated output of 24V at 5A, equivalent to 120W.
However, when powered through the included USB-C PD input cable, the available output power depends on the USB-C PD power source and cable capabilities.
For example, a USB-C PD source providing 20V at 5A supplies a maximum of 100W input power.
After voltage conversion losses, the available 24V output power will be less than 100W.
| USB-C PD Source |
Input Power |
24V Output at 90% Efficiency |
| 20V / 3A |
60W |
54W / 2.25A |
| 20V / 3.25A |
65W |
58.5W / 2.44A |
| 20V / 4.5A |
90W |
81W / 3.38A |
| 20V / 5A |
100W |
90W / 3.75A |
The values above are illustrative calculations at 90% conversion efficiency, not guaranteed output ratings. Actual available power may be lower due to USB-C cable current limits, PD negotiation, source restrictions, voltage drop, and converter operating conditions.
For applications requiring the full 120W hardware output, use an appropriately rated direct DC input source and verify that the converter, connectors, and wiring can safely support the required load.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can USB-C PD provide 24V DC power directly?
Standard USB-C PD fixed-voltage profiles generally do not include 24V DC. This kit obtains 20V from a compatible USB-C PD source and converts it to regulated 24V DC. Some newer USB-C PD implementations support additional voltage modes, but this kit specifically uses a 20V PD input cable.
Will this converter work with any USB-C power bank?
No. The power bank must support USB Power Delivery and provide a compatible 20V output profile. Its available output power must also be sufficient for the connected equipment.
Can I use a USB-C laptop charger?
Yes. A compatible USB-C PD laptop charger may be used if it supports the required 20V output and has enough power capacity for the connected 24V device.
Can I get the full 120W from a 100W USB-C PD charger?
No. A 100W USB-C PD charger cannot supply 120W of continuous output through this converter. At 90% conversion efficiency, a 100W input would theoretically provide approximately 90W output, assuming the input cable and converter support the operating conditions.
Can the converter work with a regular 12V battery?
Yes. The converter hardware accepts DC input from 9V to 32V, so it can operate with a suitable 12V battery. The battery must provide enough current, and the input connection must use correct polarity and appropriately rated wiring.
Is the output voltage regulated?
Yes. The converter is designed to maintain a regulated 24V DC output while the input voltage and output load remain within supported operating limits.
Can I use this converter to charge a 24V lithium-ion battery?
This product is a regulated DC power converter, not a dedicated lithium-ion battery charger. Do not use it to directly charge lithium-ion battery cells or battery packs without a compatible built-in charging system specifically designed to accept this type of DC input.
Can this converter change 24V DC into USB-C power?
No. This product is designed to convert compatible USB-C PD or other supported DC input power into regulated 24V DC output. It is not a USB-C PD output charger or a bidirectional power converter.
Need to Convert 24V DC into USB-C PD Power?
If your application requires converting a 24V battery or other DC source into USB-C PD output power, you need a different type of converter.
